The Claude Certified Developer - Foundations (CCDV-F) exam is designed for developers who need foundational knowledge of building applications and development workflows with Claude. Candidates should understand how Claude can be integrated into software projects through APIs, prompts, tools, agent workflows, and modern developer environments.
Preparation should go beyond general knowledge of generative AI. Developers should be comfortable with practical Claude development concepts such as API-based integration, prompt and context design, tool use, Model Context Protocol (MCP), Claude Code workflows, configuration, debugging, and the design of reliable AI-assisted applications.
Passcert provides updated CCDV-F Practice Tests and study materials to help candidates review these developer-focused skills, identify weak areas, and supplement official Anthropic documentation and hands-on practice.

This is the largest CCDV-F domain. Candidates should understand how to build and integrate Claude into production applications using APIs, SDKs, streaming, structured outputs, documents, files, and external application logic. Because this domain represents 33.1% of the exam, candidates should spend significant preparation time on practical application development and integration decisions.
Understand how to select the appropriate Claude model for a workload and optimize for quality, latency, cost, and reliability. The goal is to understand why one model or optimization strategy is more appropriate than another for a given production requirement.
Understand how to design workflows and agentic systems using Claude. Anthropic’s prep course specifically emphasizes production agents, orchestration, memory, and human review for irreversible actions.
Understand how prompt structure and context design influence Claude’s behavior. Candidates should be able to diagnose why a prompt or context strategy produces inconsistent or low-quality results.
Understand how Claude interacts with external capabilities through tool use and the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Anthropic’s official prep material explicitly teaches building MCP servers, choosing transports, configuring scope, and connecting Claude securely to enterprise systems.
Understand how to build Claude-powered applications that can withstand production security and compliance requirements. Anthropic’s Developer Foundations prep course specifically calls out prompt injection, exposed secrets, and security review as core production concerns.
Understand how Claude Code is configured and used within software-development workflows. Although this is a smaller domain by weight, it is highly specific to the Developer certification and should not be ignored.
Understand how to evaluate, test, debug, and monitor Claude-powered applications.Anthropic’s official prep course emphasizes defining “done,” building eval suites, tracing regressions, and keeping systems within cost, latency, and reliability budgets.
Start with practical application development. Review how to work with the Claude API and SDKs, structure requests and responses, handle streaming, process documents and files, work with structured outputs, and integrate Claude into real application logic.
Practise choosing the right Claude model based on quality, latency, cost, and workload requirements. At the same time, improve your prompt and context design skills using clear instructions, examples, constraints, structured context, and reliable state management.
Build hands-on experience with multi-step workflows, agent loops, tools, function-style interactions, and MCP servers. Understand when a workflow is better than an autonomous agent, how permissions and authentication should be handled, and how Claude connects safely to enterprise systems.
Study prompt injection, untrusted input, secrets, permission boundaries, tool authorization, and other production security considerations. Also practise Claude Code workflows such as CLAUDE.md, hooks, rules, permissions, Skills, plugins, commands, and subagents.
After reviewing each domain, complete related practice questions and explain why one implementation choice is better than another. For incorrect answers, return to the relevant API concept, workflow, security control, or debugging method instead of memorizing the answer.
The preparation materials are organized around the key Claude developer concepts associated with CCDV-F, helping you systematically review API integration, prompts, tools, MCP, Claude Code, and agent workflows.
Study with flexible formats designed for different preparation needs. Use the PDF materials for convenient reading and review, while the test engine provides an interactive environment for question practice and progress evaluation.
The CCDV-F preparation materials are reviewed against relevant certification and Claude technology changes. When revisions are required, updated versions are made available according to the applicable product update terms.
Eligible customers can access available materials through the Passcert Member Area and contact support for account access, downloads, Test Engine use, updates, and related service questions.
CCDV-F is especially suitable for:
● Software developers
● AI application developers
● Backend engineers
● Full-stack developers
● AI/ML engineers
● Developer-tooling engineers
● Technical consultants
● Engineers building Claude-powered applications and workflows
It is best suited to candidates who already understand basic generative AI concepts and want to demonstrate practical Claude development skills across APIs, agents, tools, MCP, security, Claude Code, and production workflows.
Candidates who primarily use Claude for everyday business tasks may be better aligned with CCAO-F, while those focused on solution architecture may prefer CCAR-F.
CCDV-F is a foundational Claude developer certification focused on the knowledge and skills needed to work with Claude in modern software development and AI application workflows.
The current CCDV-F exam contains 53 questions and allows 120 minutes for completion.
Focus on Claude API integration, prompt and context design, tool use, MCP concepts, Claude Code, configuration, and agent-assisted development workflows.
CCDV-F is a foundations-level credential, but candidates should still gain hands-on experience with Claude development tools and application workflows rather than relying only on theoretical study.
CCAO-F focuses on practical Claude usage in business and productivity workflows, while CCDV-F focuses on software development, API integration, agents, tools, MCP, Claude Code, security, testing, and production-ready applications.
CCDV-F is developer-focused and emphasizes implementation, integration, APIs, agents, MCP, security, Claude Code, and debugging.
CCAR-F is architecture-focused and emphasizes agentic architecture, orchestration, MCP design, Claude Code workflows, prompt engineering, context management, and solution reliability.
