The CompTIA Network+ N10-009 exam validates the foundational networking knowledge and practical skills needed to configure, manage, secure, and troubleshoot wired and wireless networks. It is designed for professionals preparing for roles such as network technician, network administrator, infrastructure support specialist, and junior network engineer.
The current exam covers five weighted domains: Networking Concepts, Network Implementation, Network Operations, Network Security, and Network Troubleshooting. Candidates should be able to work with the OSI model, IP addressing, routing and switching, wireless networking, cloud connectivity, network services, documentation, security controls, monitoring tools, and structured troubleshooting methods.
Passcert provides updated N10-009 Practice Tests and study materials to help candidates review the current Network+ objectives, practise scenario-based questions, identify weaker areas, and supplement official CompTIA learning resources and hands-on networking practice.

9–12 months of hands-on networking experience
This domain establishes the technical foundation for the rest of the exam. Candidates should understand the OSI model, networking appliances, cloud concepts, common protocols and ports, transmission media, network topologies, IPv4 addressing, subnetting, and modern networking technologies. The current objectives also include concepts such as NFV, VPCs, cloud gateways, VPN connectivity, public/private/hybrid cloud models, and service models such as SaaS and IaaS.
This domain focuses on applying networking technologies in real environments. Candidates should understand routing, switching, VLANs, interfaces, wireless technologies, network devices, physical installation considerations, and how to select or configure the appropriate network solution for a given scenario.
Candidates should understand the day-to-day processes required to keep networks available and manageable. Important areas include network documentation, configuration management, monitoring, disaster recovery, high availability, network services, secure management methods, change control, and operational procedures.
This domain covers the security controls and practices required to protect network infrastructure. Candidates should understand access control, authentication, encryption, segmentation, secure protocols, device hardening, physical security, common network threats, and how to apply appropriate security techniques in different scenarios.
This is the largest domain on the current N10-009 exam. Candidates should know how to apply a structured troubleshooting methodology and diagnose issues involving cabling, interfaces, VLANs, routing, addressing, wireless connections, services, network performance, and connectivity. They should also understand which tools, logs, and tests are appropriate for confirming the root cause.
Start with the OSI model, TCP/IP, ports and protocols, devices, network topologies, IPv4 addressing, subnetting, and cloud networking concepts. Weak fundamentals make both implementation and troubleshooting questions more difficult.
Review VLANs, trunks, routing concepts, interfaces, wireless standards, access points, common network devices, and physical infrastructure. Try to connect each technology to a real deployment scenario.
Understand diagrams, inventories, configuration baselines, change management, monitoring, high availability, disaster recovery, and day-to-day network administration.
Review segmentation, access control, secure protocols, authentication, encryption, network hardening, physical controls, and common attack techniques.
Practise diagnosing cabling, IP addressing, routing, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, wireless, and performance problems. PBQs often require candidates to apply several concepts together rather than recall one fact.
N10-009 is well suited to:
CompTIA recommends approximately 9–12 months of hands-on networking experience before attempting the exam.
The materials cover Networking Concepts, Network Implementation, Network Operations, Network Security, and Network Troubleshooting based on the current N10-009 blueprint.
Practice questions help candidates apply networking knowledge to realistic routing, switching, security, wireless, and connectivity scenarios.
Use PDF materials for structured review and the Test Engine for interactive practice, scoring, and progress evaluation.
Materials are reviewed when CompTIA updates the N10-009 objectives, technologies, or exam requirements.
Eligible customers can access available files through the Passcert Member Area and contact support for downloads, Test Engine use, updates, and related service questions.
N10-009 is the current CompTIA Network+ V9 exam. It validates foundational networking knowledge and practical skills across networking concepts, implementation, operations, security, and troubleshooting.
The exam contains a maximum of 90 questions.
Candidates have 90 minutes to complete the exam.
The exam includes multiple-choice and performance-based questions (PBQs).
The passing score is 720 on a 100–900 scale.
Practise interpreting network diagrams, IP addressing, VLAN and routing configurations, wireless scenarios, command outputs, and troubleshooting workflows rather than relying only on memorization.
